Implementing a bicycle and pedestrian plan for the community

In January 2010, Kirstin Etela, Nikki Kenney and Alyssa Israel formed the FBWC board of directors.  Our first initiative was an online petition asking First Selectman Ken Flatto to develop a bicycle and pedestrian plan for the town.  Mr. Flatto responded to the petition and formed the Bicycle & Pedestrian Plan Advisory Committee in April 2010.  The plan, once completed in 2011 by the Greater Bridgeport Regional Planning Agency, will become part of Fairfield's Plan of Conservation and Development.  The FBWC will advocate for the implementation of the Bicycle & Pedestrian Plan's recommendations with the support of its members.  The group has also developed a town-wide advertising campaign and has organized bicycle education courses in collaboration with Bike Walk CT.
