Description

The Farmers’ Market at Poplar Grove was established to provide a retail outlet for local growers and producers   to sell their goods directly to consumers. The market strives to educate consumers on local farm products and practices, promote the use of local products and serve the community through programming and activities.

The market will be open every Wednesday from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM.  Visit and shop with a large variety of vendors offering fresh eggs, herbs, cut flowers, seafood, beef, poultry, goat, lamb, bakery breads and sweet confections; arts and crafts including jewelry, photography, woven, knitted and quilted items, outdoor furniture, birdhouses, pottery; as well as native plants, landscape and bedding plants, hardy orchids, hanging baskets, popcorn, peanuts, goat cheese, muscadine wine, fresh berries and produce and much more.  Products and produce change according to availability and season.  See the list of vendors for more information and feel free to e-mail us if you have a question about a particular product.  Come enjoy the open-air market on the front lawn of the historic plantation under the big shade trees with plenty of free parking.  We have some wagons available for your shopping use and you are welcome to bring your own. Check out this page for upcoming special programs scheduled at the market throughout the year.

The 2nd Wednesday of each month, April – October,  the Pender County Master Gardeners will be here for a Plant Clinic. They will answer questions about lawns, landscape plants, fruits and vegetables.  You can bring sick plants, weeds or mystery plants and they will try to diagnose or identify them.  Information about the Master Gardener program, newsletters and soil testing supplies will be available.

Also on the 2nd Wednesday of each month we'll be "grillin in the grove" for you to sample various foods the vendors have available.  Experience things you wouldn't imagine cooking on a grill.

The Farmers’ Market is delighted to have Cindy Rhodes , aka Mermaid Morrigan, performing her original compositions during the market.  A classically trained musician, Cindy plays her hammered dulcimer, has CD’s for sale and also offers opportunities for you to take lessons immediately following the market each Wednesday.

Bring the family to the market, do your shopping, enjoy the activities and displays, have a hot dog and listen to the hammered dulcimer!
