Description

Increasing access to fresh affordable produce and building community

The Lansing Urban Farm Project (LUFP) is a recently created non-profit that uses sustainable practices to produce fresh, affordable produce while building community within Lansing, Michigan.

Its first project is Urbandale Farm on Lansing’s Eastside where vegetable and flower production began in 2010 on a half-acre vacant lot in the heart of Lansing’s 100-year flood plain and the Urbandale neighborhood.  In seven short months between April and October, lots of community volunteers transformed the vacant lot into a thriving, productive farm.

During the growing season, LUFP’s produce is available at the Urbandale Farm Stand and the Allen Street Farmer’s Market.  New in 2011, produce will also be available from the Urbandale Veggie Wagon.  Check our market schedule for updated information about when the markets will be open.  Urbandale neighborhood residents and volunteers receive a discount on produce purchased at the Urbandale Farm Stand.

The Lansing Urban Farm Project holds a Tuesday and Saturday afternoon market. There is also a monthly market in Old Town.
