I (Ann Reilly) have been doing this for a couple of years now(had a large organic garden, did composting,do juicing, instead of buying sterilized, sugary juices at stores, some women at church do pickling, etc.(canning)(living healthier) with friend Bill who is in Mass. now). Participated in CSA in Germantown. Use organic toiletries like Dr. Woods soap, shampoo,Kiss my face hand cream(company from Gardiner,NY). Spoke at two Green fairs on how 'anyone easily can live green' in Rhinebeck at Dutchess fair grounds and Eco-fair in Cairo. Use Simple Green cleaning products,7th Generation, use Ecocanteen(stainless steel) instead of heated plastic bottle, taught a jewelry class at library on Earth day last year and showed how can make earrings, key chains from bottle caps. What it is accomplishing is raising awareness of how bad planet is and how we can still turn it around. We have had 2 Green fairs here in Cairo. Is a start. Besides being good for planet, save money,is healthier way to live, simpler, see where food comes from as eliminate the middle man,air is cleaner here in country, black angus here on farms, have gotten eggs from free range chickens, locally grown produce here. Some are building and heating, cooking, using electricity in their homes 'green' here now too. Nearby is a farm with wind power and they are getting money back from utility company. Woman at CSA drives a truck on chicken grease from Chinese restaurant(gets it there daily). I am an artist. I think one needs to be creative and use the left brain thinking to live now as we can't depend on the government and companies many work for to look out for us anymore. Why I started my own company in '96 and have been working on own since. I design, sell jewelry now(art is very healing) Worked for companies and bosses who didn't appreciate my best work and time and treated me poorly. This breaks one's spirit. I am about healing and renewing one's mind and spirit, moving on,forgiving my abusers who were/are sick so feel sorry for them rather than hate and be angry.
