Patrons come to purchase fresh produce and they come to get to know the local farmers who grow spring, mid-season, and fall produce to sell fresh from their fields for them.

The Market OPENING DAY FOR 2011 is APRIL 30 -Oct every Saturday 8am-noon - in the downtown parking lot across from the Fire Station on Shawnee Avenue - Rain or Shine.


Heirloom vegetables are a market specialty. Bulk produce orders for canning are available. Day Lilies, herbs, walnuts, Quilts, birdhouses, jewelry, pottery, walking sticks, hand carving, pocketbooks, soap, and aprons are some of the craft items to be found at the market, as well as honey, sorghum molasses, jam and jelly, home baked bread, rolls, candy and fried pies, dog treats and Big Stone Gap tourism t-Shirts.
