Description

For Moving Planet Day, we are planning two possible shoreline rides to end up at the New Haven Green at 4 pm. There we will join a state-wide critical mass ride and rally in support of active transportation and action on climate change solutions. From Clinton, we will leave from Liberty Green (corner of Main Street and Liberty Street) at 12 noon (for those riding all the way to the New Haven Green) or at 1:30 pm, for those riding to the Guilford train station to catch the 3:13 train to New Haven State Street Station. We invite every bike advocate and/or environmentalist along the shoreline and river estuary to join one of the rides. Groups from all corners of the state will be converging on the New Haven Green to show the collective power of people in action and to give our public officials the courage to ACT on the climate crisis. Rally activities on the New Haven Green are scheduled for 4 - 10 pm, starting with a Critical Mass Ride and ending with an outdoor showing of the animated cartoon Wall-E (powered by pedals). Following the rally, the shoreline group can take Shoreline East back home from the State Street Station on the 8pm or 10pm train. For those shoreline activists who prefer mass transit both ways, walk or ride to the Old Saybrook or Guilford train station, take the Shoreline East to State Street in New Haven, and walk three blocks to the Green on Temple Street. You can take the 8 or 10 pm train back home! Return trips will drop off at shoreline stations all the way to Old Saybrook. We are in the process of mapping the route to New Haven, so please check back for more details on the route and the approximate times we'll be stopping at town greens along the way. Let us know if you're planning to join one of the rides! Hope to see you on September 24th!
