Description

We are exited to offer CSA shares for the summer 2011 season! Our CSA shares will run for 26 weeks, beginning June and going through November. The cost is 525/share which comes out to 20/week. The share will include a variety of seasonal produce, from 10-20 different types of vegetables, and also the option to purchase our organic, pasture raised eggs for 4 dollars/dozen at the pick-up.

Veggies will include: Lettuce mix (pre-washed), spinach, arugula, Asian greens, radishes, Hakurei Turnips, beets, carrots, snap peas, snow peas, green beans, broccoli, cabbage, kohlrabi, kale, swiss chard, collard greens, cilantro, basil, parsley, sweet corn, eggplant, hot peppers, sweet peppers, cherry tomatoes, heirloom tomatoes, melons, summer squash, winter squash, cucumbers, leeks, onions, potatoes, and maybe even some okra!

We will offer pick-ups at two locations; one at the Lehman Alternative Community School in Ithaca, tentatively on Saturday afternoon, and another location to be decided based on member input. We are fairly flexible here so we hope to find pick-up times/locations that work for as many people as possible.

We are Solana Farm is a small organic farm located in Danby, NY. We grow a wide variety of vegetables using organic methods, and we raise Rhode Island Red laying hens on pasture for fresh eggs. We offer CSA shares that can be picked up in Caroline and Ithaca, and our produce is also available at the Caroline Farmer's Market.

For the past several years we, Lauren and Kevin, have been farming in central Montana, and recently moved back to the Ithaca area where Lauren grew up. Thanks to the generosity of Gay Garrison, we will be growing on her land in Danby this season while we look for a more permenant location.

Our long-term goal is to create a closed-loop, holistic, biodiverse, and sustainable agricultural system that will produce fresh, healthy food for our community while continuing to grow and learn from the complexities of natural ecosystems.
