Description
Small CSA numbers allow for an intimacy often lost on larger operations. You will have the opportunity to chat, work, visit and share meals with the person growing your food through work days, harvest days and on farm pickups. There is no obligation to work or even chat but if the desire is there, so is the opportunity. A wide variety of vegetables will be grown and distributed with the intention of providing enough food for a small family each week. The season will ebb-and-flow but the idea is to not overwhelm one week and short the next. Greens, roots, fruits, bulbs and stems are all possibilities and likely to end up in your share each week.
Slow Roots Farm is a diversified vegetable operation that markets vegetables at the Saugerties and Rosendale Farmer's Markets and through a CSA program. The farm is located in the beautiful Hidden Valley in Lomontville just north of Stone Ridge. Almost 200 varieties of vegetables are grown using organic methods that attempt to maximize nutrition in the food while promoting the health of the land. CSA shares are available for the 2011 season but limited in quantity to ensure an intimacy often lost on larger operations. Please contact farmer for more information on vegetables available and for inquiries about the CSA.
