Description
CSA members receive 8-10 local, organic, in season products from our farm harvested at the peak of freshness, thoroughly washed and carefully packaged. Each week we aim to include salad mix, one herb bunch, an allium, one cooking green, one to two root vegetables plus 2 to 3 other seasonally available items such as tomatoes, zucchini, beans etc.
Gottschell Farm is a very small farm started in 2007 located near Limeport in the Lehigh Valley of Pennsylvania. We grow a wide variety of vegetables, herbs, herb plants and cut flowers including heirlooms using intensive growing methods on about an acre of land. 2011 will be the 9th year of farming for us and the 6th year with a CSA. Our products are grown without the use of pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, synthetic fertilizers or genetically modified materials. Instead we use compost, cover crops, crop rotations and diversity for fertility, disease and pest issues. These are just a few not to mention lots of hand weeding and hoeing. Our vegetables, herbs and flowers are harvested fresh for markets and CSA at the peak of readiness. We take care to thoroughly clean the produce, properly store and neatly present it for market or delivery.
