Description
Each week the share will consist, when available, of a bag of field salad mix, about eight lbs. of seasonal vegetables, herb of the week, garden plants, a flower bouquet (in season), and a pint of berries (in season). We also offer a local cheese CSA option ($50/8 weeks, $75/12 weeks, $100/18 weeks) for produce CSA members, and local meat will available for purchase to CSA members on pick-up days.
Coonamessett Farm is a membership farm that is also open to the general public from May through December. Members, and guests that buy a day pass ($8/person age 2 and older), can come onto the farm and pick their own vegetables, berries, flowers, and herbs. We grow multiple vegetable crops in rotation in established rows that provide easy access to pickers. We routinely acquire research grants and contracts to develop new agricultural methods for small farms and harvest methods for commercial fisheries.
We have permanent crops of blueberries, strawberries, raspberries and blackberries in addition to our vegetable crops. We have 5 greenhouses and 3 types of hydroponic systems in which we grow lettuce, basil, tomatoes and cucumbers.
