Coon Rock Farm
Coon Rock Farm is a family farm providing sustainably grown garden crops and pasture raised antibiotic and hormone free chicken, eggs, pigs, beef, lamb and goat on 55 acres nestled along a bend in the Eno River just outside of Hillsborough, NC. We concentrate on sustainably and bio-dynamically taking care of the land while letting it take care of us. We make our own compost and never useany artificial pesticides, herbicides orfertilizers of any knd. Our vegetables are mostly heirloom varieties and raised without chemicals of any kind. Our animals are pastured raised and grass feed and never given antibiotics or hormones. Our chickens are heritage breeds that provide both meat and eggs and are completely free range.
Coon Rock Farm is now accepting applications for its Spring/Summer Produce CSA. It will run for 20 weeks starting in mid April and running through the first week of September. Each week will include $25.00 of sustainably produced vegetables, herbs and fruits. At Coon Rock Farm we make our own compost for soil fertility and never use any artificial fertilizers, pesticides or herbicides of any kind,. The CSA subscription fee is $500.
You will receive an email at the beginning of each week letting you know if there will be a delivery that week and what the contents of that week's box are expected to be. Here are the types of items you should expect to receive each week in your box:
-May: lettuce, mesclun, arugula, bok choy, cabbage, kale, greens, herbs, broccoli rabe, broccoli, spinach, turnips, lamb¢ï¿½?â„¢s quarter, Swiss chard, beets, radish, carrots, green onions, various herbs
-June: just about everything from May PLUS squash, zucchini, patti pan, sugar snap peas, snow peas, Vidalia-style bulb onions, garlic, French fillet green beans (haricot vert), new potatoes, various herbs
-July: heirloom tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, squash, zucchini, beans, peas, sweet peppers, eggplant, Irish potatoes, heirloom fingerling potatoes, onions, sweet corn, okra, various herbs
-August: same as July plus cantaloupe, honey dew, various exotic melons, edemame soybeans, field peas
-September: just about everything from July, and August depending on the weather plus the first of the fall squash like butternut and acorn.
